Mrs. Myriah Kinley Shuman

Welcome to Fabulous First Grade!

My name is Myriah Kinley Shuman and I am entering my 9th year of teaching in Baltimore City. For the last 4 years, I have enjoyed my time teaching first grade here at TJEMS.

I am a native of Northeastern Pennsylvania and I graduated from Keystone College with a degree in Elementary Education in 2010. I live with my husband and our zoo of one dog, 4 cats and 2 turtles.

The step from Kindergarten to First Grade is a big one, and I am excited to help your child learn and thrive along the way. Throughout this school year, we will work together to develop academics, social skills, and independence. One of my favorite parts of being an educator is watching children look back at how much they have grown and changed in the course of a year, and how much they have accomplished along the way. First grade is fast-paced, fun, and will provide your child with the essential building blocks they need as they grow and learn.

A vital part of our progress and success is school to home contact, and I anticipate building a relationship with you as well as your child.
